Fuel Additives

Detergents / Deposit Control Additives

Fuel detergents prevent formation of deposits on intake valves, fuel injectors, and combustion chambers, ensuring optimal engine performance, fuel efficiency, and emission control. Common chemistries include polyetheramines and polyisobutylene amines compatible with gasoline and diesel fuels.

Cetane Improvers (Diesel)

Cetane improvers increase the cetane number of diesel fuels, enhancing ignition quality, reducing engine knock, and improving combustion efficiency. Alkyl nitrates such as 2-ethylhexyl nitrate are widely used for this purpose.

Octane Boosters (Gasoline)

Octane boosters raise the octane rating of gasoline, improving anti-knock properties, combustion stability, and engine performance. Common additives include methylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl (MMT) and various oxygenates.

Cold Flow Improvers

Cold flow improvers enhance low-temperature operability of fuels by modifying wax crystal formation, reducing pour point, and preventing fuel line blockages in cold climates. Polymethacrylates and ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers are typical chemistries used to maintain fluidity at low temperatures.
